American Gold Eagle coins are gold bullion coins produced by the U.S. Mint whose purity is guaranteed by the U.S. Government. Per the Gold Bullion Act of 1985, gold for American Gold Eagle coins comes entirely from within the U.S. The Act also stipulates the American Gold Eagle has a purity of 91.67% gold, or 22-karat.
